The Programme ran an online survey to ensure that everybody who wished to share their views had an opportunity to do so.
The survey was open from 15th August 2023 to 17th November 2023. It was open to anyone who met the participation criteria of (i) having experiences of recent (within 5 years) safeguarding in the Church of England; and (ii) being over 18 years of age.
This included:
- Victims and survivors of abuse, or their parents/carers;
- Members of the clergy;
- Church staff and volunteers;
- Members of congregations; and,
- Members of the public
Professor Jay has used the results of the online survey to inform her recommendations to the Archbishops’ Council and will publish them in her report by February 2024.
